2017-18 Winter Season – Week 6 Round Up

A great start for the Mixed As, an emphatic win for the Men’s Ds but a frustrating week for the Men’s As.

The Mixed As got off to a great start to their season with a convincing 4-0 win at home to Warwick Boat A.   Warwick were one of the teams “parachuted” into what was understood to be the right division for them but their performance was unfortunately under par – particularly frustrating as their entry directly into this division had prevented Alcester Mixed Bs from gaining the promotion they won last season and they have instead had to remain in Division 3.  Leaving the politics to one side, the Alcester pairs played well with our first pair winning by a double bagel (6-0 6-0) in one of their rubbers.  Very well played Mel & Tim, Alex & Emma.

The Men’s As unfortunately met a very strong Stratford A team away at Stratford.  Looking to put in a strong challenge for the divisional title, Stratford played exceptionally well and took the fixture 4-0.  Commiserations Tim & Barney, Alex & Stu.

The Men’s Ds had a very different Sunday with a very strong 4-0 win at home to Henley C.  The two pairs contrasted age and experience with youth and exuberance, with both approaches clearly being victorious. Very well played Ben & Sam, Charles & Mirek.
